Brother Michael - A Wanderer Discovers Hemp
A former operational expert who worked within the dairy industry in mid-Canterbury, NZ. After stints in supply chain, manufacturing and management positions in the rural sector, Michael sold his house and left it all to go backpacking through Central America. Spending some time thinking about what he could do to make a positive impact and change in his three passions; health, the environment, and farming.
When the founding Brothers called, Michael was on a volcano in Guatemala. He immediately booked flights back to New Zealand and the rest is history.
Michael sees hemp as a powerful, sustainable crop that New Zealand's primary producers can utilise to enhance their businesses while also regenerating their soils. His goal is to provide New Zealanders with various healthy food options that are low in sugar, and can easily be utilised throughout the day; while educating people about convenient ways in which we can all improve our personal hauora (well-being). Michael is passionate about all things 'self improvement' and believes the food we consume and the way in which we do so is vital to our overall state.
Whether it be the high plant based protein level provided by Hemp Hearts, or the anti-inflammatory benefits and effect on skin of Hemp Seed Oil, NZ hemp has something on offer for everybody. Michael is hoping more and more people will make conscious decisions around what they eat, especially when it comes to children’s health. Obesity and diet related disease must be combated, now. New Zealand grown plants such as hemp can help.
If Michael could change one thing about New Zealand it would be a real connection between consumers and their food. A knowledge and understanding of food production and the love that farmers put into the land.
Michael is looking forward to seeing the changes that The Brothers Green will bring around awareness of NZ hemp as a common food ingredient in kitchens and lunchboxes nationwide.
