We are looking to use our first dietary intake of the day to reduce inflammation and enhance cognitive and physical performance. The right blend of ingredients in a smoothie can play an integral role in ensuring the gut brain axis is in alignment. 

The Brothers Green Hemp Smoothie - New Zealand Recipes

Purposeful Ingredients 

The Brothers Green Hemp Protein Powder - 2 tbsp

Gut friendly, raw, minimally processed hemp seed protein. Full of fibre. Local. Sustainable.

 

The Brothers Green Hemp Hearts -1 tbsp

High protein content as well as essential fatty acids. Low Carbs. Adds a creaminess to the smoothie.

 

The Brothers Green Hemp Seed Oil - 1 tbsp

GLA. An Omega 6 which reduces inflammation. Omega 3. Also anti-inflammatory.

 

Flowstate Mushroom Mix - 1 tsp

Flowstate is a New Zealand company based in the far north that import carefully selected and sourced mushrooms. The four types used in this mix are cordyceps, lions man, reishi & chaga. All ingredients are organically grown adaptogens used for functional aims.

Cordyceps: Energy & Endurance

Lions Mane: Focus, Clarity & Concentration

Chaga: Detoxification & Immunity

Reishi: Stress Relief & Fights Fatigue

 

Viberi Blackcurrant Powder - 1 tsp

A South Canterbury company that grows organic blackcurrants. A great source of Vitamin C as well as the unique Anthocyanin compound - a type of flavonoid that gives blackcurrants, blueberries, etc. their purple colour. Anthocyanin has been shown to improve cognitive function, immunity, eye health, cardiovascular health & fatigue resistance. 

 

Raglan Coconut Yoghurt - 2 tbsp

A delicious dairy free yoghurt option made in Raglan by great people. A probiotic gut friendly ingredient with no added sugar.

 

Otis Oat Milk - 2 cups

Fortified with B12 - a nutrient many people are deficient in. 

 

Tahi Spirulina Powder - ½ tsp

Iron, protein, Vitamin B and antioxidants are all found in a small serving of spirulina. A sustainable algae of the future. Grown in NZ!

 

Water - 2 cups

Hydration is domination. Domination of the day!

 

Banana - x2

High in potassium - great for heart health.

 

Golden Kiwifruit - x1

High in Vitamin C and fibre. Great for digestion and delicious. Emerging studies are linking kiwifruit consumption to good sleep.

 

Blueberries - 1 cup

Extremely high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals and are essential to cell health as we age.

 

Spinach - 1 cup

Nutrient Dense green goodness. Popeye is enough reason for me.

 

Sunflower Seeds - 1 tsp

High in protein and healthy fats and hosts a vast range of nutrients and vitamins.
